Fashion to me is dependent on so many factors: how I’m feeling that day, what kind of mood I am in, what event I am attending, and so on. Some days I feel confident and sexy and want to wear something fun and flirty, while other days I feel like a tomboy and want to remain in my sweats and tee shirt with my hair pulled up in a messy bun. Either way, I feel as though we should all be able to express ourselves without having to defend our sense of style. Whether I have make up on, or not, have my hair straightened and styled or not, have a dress on, or not, I am still the same person on the inside and that is what should be noticed and valued the most. Our clothing simply is an extension of who we are as individuals.
I highly suggest that you play with different styles until you find what makes you most comfortable. Whether it’s in a dress, pants, workout clothes, or pajamas, wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident in yourself.
Try something new, maybe instead of gym clothes, put on a dress and make up and see how that transforms your mood. If you want to wear jeans and a tee shirt with a clean face, then do that too! Don’t let someone else’s opinion of you force you into choosing one sense of style over another. Like everything in life, you have to know yourself first before you can determine what your sense of style is. And it’s ok to be a chameleon, to try new things, to dress based on your emotions. There is no right or wrong here. The one thing I implore is that you do not dress based on the opinions of others. Be you. Be comfortable in your own skin. Believe in yourself. And when that happens, it won’t matter if you’re wearing a paper bag and your hair is all crazy because your beauty will shine through no matter what.
